Lower quality yields smaller file sizes with some visual loss; higher quality preserves fidelity with larger files. If the converted file exceeds "Max File Size (KB)", quality will be automatically reduced until the threshold is met.

Supported Formats in Bulk Converter

Seamlessly convert between 4 major image formats with built-in compression.

JPG

JPG / JPEG

Lossy compression with high compatibility and small footprint. Perfect for photography and web publishing. Does not support transparent backgrounds.

PNG

PNG

Lossless compression supporting transparent alpha channels. Ideal for logos, icons, screenshots, and graphics requiring transparent backgrounds.

WebP

WebP

Modern web standard offering superior compression with smaller file sizes and transparency support. Recommended for high-speed web and mobile applications.

BMP

BMP

Uncompressed raster bitmap format with pristine pixel data at the expense of larger file sizes. Best suited for raw editing workflows.

How Does This Bulk Image Converter Work?

Once you upload your pictures and choose a target format, your browser reads the local files directly and renders each image onto an HTML5 Canvas. The images are then re-encoded into your chosen format (JPG, PNG, WebP, or BMP) natively by the browser. No files are ever uploaded across the internet.

The tool implements an asynchronous single-item processing queue. By converting images one by one and immediately disposing of the canvas memory buffer, our batch converter can handle over a hundred images consecutively without crashing your browser. The results are securely held as local Blob objects for instant individual download or convenient ZIP packaging.

Please note: Converting images to JPG will fill transparent backgrounds with white, as JPEG does not support alpha channels. BMP files are uncompressed bitmaps and are naturally much larger. Additionally, if re-encoding results in a larger file than the source, the original file is preserved to prevent reverse compression.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you need to know about bulk image conversion and compression.

Are my images uploaded to any remote server?

No. All file reading, conversion, compression, and ZIP archiving are executed entirely inside your device's browser using JavaScript. There are zero upload endpoints, ensuring complete confidentiality.

Why did my transparent background turn white after converting to JPG?

The JPG format does not support transparency (alpha channels). Consequently, all transparent pixels are filled with solid white during encoding. To preserve transparent backgrounds, please convert to PNG or WebP instead.

Does this tool compress images while converting them?

Yes. The quality slider controls the encoding compression ratio. If the output file exceeds your specified "Max File Size (KB)", our algorithm progressively lowers the quality setting until the file meets your size limit. This provides significant size reduction for lossy formats like JPG and WebP.

What does the "Keep Original Format" setting do?

This mode keeps each photo in its existing format while re-encoding and compressing it to reduce file weight. If compression causes the file to become larger than the original, the original file is preserved automatically.

Why are converted BMP files so large?

BMP is an uncompressed bitmap format that stores exact pixel information without compression algorithms. It is designed for raw image handling rather than efficient web delivery.
